in this first profile, the founders of LA-based architecture firm johnston marklee discuss the difference between Arts and architecturethe “casual decision” to open their office and how the small buildings they tackle are like rooms in the city. “It’s a quiet thing, but I think it’s profound”, notes Sharon Johnston. the film takes viewers through the johnston marklee studio and on location to previous work, which they explore and experience through a new lens.

johnston marklee’s work is visually stunning with a carefully considered aesthetic and her approach is rigorous yet open and experimental. although the studio is based in los angeles, their work and perspectives are heavily influenced by their travel time for projects and teaching, giving them a multidimensional perspective.
